Connect Stripe payments

Set up Stripe for your artists or your shop so deposits, payments and in-person charges land in the right account.

Open this in the app

TattooBooking takes payments through Stripe. Each artist can have their own Stripe account, and a shop can have one too, so money goes straight to whoever should receive it.

Before you start

  • You will need the email address the account should be registered under, and the usual details Stripe asks for when opening an account (identity, bank account for payouts).
  • The page is under Financial → Stripe Connect and is available to account owners and managers. There is no plan requirement.
  • Stripe creates an Express account for you. You do not need an existing Stripe account, but if you have one, sign in to it with the same email when Stripe asks.

Connect an artist

  1. Open Financial → Stripe Connect. The Artist Accounts tab is selected.
  2. Pick the artist from the list (search by name if you have many).
  3. Press Connect to Stripe.
  4. Stripe's onboarding opens — either inside the app or in a new tab, depending on how your account is set up. Sign in with the artist's email; the app reminds you which one: "Sign into Stripe with . The Express account was created under this email."
  5. Work through Stripe's questions. If you stop part-way, come back to the same page and press Continue Setup to pick up where you left off.
  6. When Stripe has everything, the artist's status shows Pending Verification: "Stripe is reviewing your account (1-2 business days). You can continue setup." Press Check Status any time to refresh it.
  7. Once Stripe approves the account the status becomes Connected, and the artist gets an email and an in-app notice ("Payments Enabled!").

If the account was created under the wrong email, press Reset while it is still incomplete. That deletes the unfinished account so you can start again.

Connect the shop

The Shop Account tab does the same for the shop itself. Press Connect Shop to Stripe and complete Stripe's onboarding as a business. In the tab's own words: "Connect your shop to Stripe to receive payments on behalf of all your artists. When the shop account is connected, you can configure per-artist payment routing in the 'Payment Routing' tab."

Who gets paid

With a shop account connected, the Payment Routing tab lets you choose, per artist, whether their payments go to the Shop Account or the Artist Account. The Artist Account option is only available for artists who have completed their own Stripe setup ("Has own Stripe account").

The rule the app follows when a payment comes in:

  • If the shop has a connected account, the artist's payments go to the shop unless that artist is routed to their own account and that account is fully set up.
  • If the shop has no connected account, payments go to the artist's own account.
  • Only an active shop membership can route payments — a removed artist's old routing is ignored.

What the account is used for

The Stripe Connect page lists it:

  • Deposits at booking — clients pay automatically when they book through your booking links. Set deposit amounts per event type in Booking → Settings.
  • Take Payment — charge a card, log cash, or send a payment request from any client profile or appointment. Everything shows on the Payments page.
  • In person — Tap to Pay on the mobile app, or a Stripe Terminal reader, for card-present charges.

Refunds run through the same connected account. A platform service fee applies to each payment; whether it is added to the client's total or absorbed by you is set on your subscription.

Disconnecting

An account that has finished onboarding cannot be removed from the app, because it may have processed payments. If you need to disconnect one, contact support. Reset is only offered while an account is still incomplete.
